Fun And Healthy Ways To Spend A Girls’ Night In

September 28, 2018

When you’re busy, you might find it hard to keep up with social engagements and you can even start to take friendships for granted. It’s important that you try to make time for your social life as well. Spending time with your friends can be good for your wellbeing, offer emotional support and generally make you feel happier. That means having a girls’ night in can be good for your health!
Spending time talking, laughing and connecting with people you care about helps to reduce stress, which can have a massive impact on your immune system, gut health and your mental health. As if you needed more reasons to call your gals for a catch-up!
If you prefer to hang out with friends at home rather than heading out and hitting the dancefloor or trying the latest restaurant, keep reading. I’ve created a list of ideas of fun and healthy ways to spend a girls’ night in!
Things to do on a girls’ night in
Try these fun and healthy ideas for your next girls’ night in!
Have an at-home spa
Who doesn’t love a bit of a pamper session? The best thing about spending a girl’s night in with your friends is you can pool your skills AND your resources.
If you love to organise things (like me!) then you might like to pre-plan who will bring what. Someone might be responsible for bringing face masks, another friend might be in charge of bringing manicure supplies. Get together, put on your favourite playlist and get pampering.
Make a meal together
Instead of ordering in pizza, why not come together and make dinner for yourselves? Sharing the meal preparation and cooking means everyone helps out and you get to hang out with your besties while you do it!
You can even make a healthy version of your favourite takeaway dish — my Chicken Pad Thai recipe is filled with veggies and is perfect for sharing! Plus, it’s fun to make.
Movie night
I’m sure you have already thought of this BUT there is a great way to make movie night even more fun. Choose your favourite movie musical (Disney movies are a great go-to) and turn your girls’ night into a sing-along. Have everyone vote on the karaoke queen in your group.
Don’t forget to make some air-popped popcorn or try some spicy baked chickpeas for a healthy snack while you enjoy the movie.
Play games
When was the last time you played a board game? Board games are a fun and healthy way to spend a girls’ night in — they provide lots of laughs and allow you to indulge that competitive streak in a healthy way.
Whether you like board games or video games, it’s always a bit of fun to team up and play against your friends. Another great idea is to come up with your own quiz where the questions and answers relate to your group of friends. You might be surprised to learn some new things about your friends!
Enjoy your girls’ night in
The most important part of any girls’ night in is to have FUN. When you spend time with friends or family, it can help to melt away the pressures of life, leaving you feeling good.
Good health is about much more than eating well and working out, so make time for the people who are important to you.
