I’m sure we’ve all used coconut oil when cooking or added it to our favourite raw dessert. But did you know that there are heaps of other ways it can be used? Today I’m going to share with you some different ways that you can use coconut oil other than cooking!

Hair Treatment

As you would know from your cooking adventures, coconut oil is a solid at room temperature, but as soon as it is exposed to a small amount of heat, it turns into liquid. Melted coconut oil can be like liquid gold for dry, dull hair! Just apply some to your hair, tie it up in a bun and leave for a few hours or overnight and wake up to shinier, more moisturised hair. If you have very thin or fine hair apply to your mid lengths and ends only, then wash out.

Moisturiser

Even if it’s in solid form, spoon out a small amount of coconut oil from your jar and apply straight onto your skin. It’s as simple as that! Not only can coconut oil leave your skin feeling refreshed and moisturised, but it also gives you that summery scent of coconut. Tip: apply coconut oil as soon as you have stepped out of the bath/shower and your skin is still damp as this can help it to absorb into your skin easier.

Teeth Whitener

Yes, you heard right - coconut oil may also double as a teeth whitener! This can happen through a process called “oil pulling” where you swish around a small amount of coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 or so minutes as soon as you wake up.
