New Ways To Eat Quinoa
So I am sure we have all heard about quinoa and its ‘superpowers’, but what you may not know is that there are SO many different ways to eat it! If you're sick of the standard quinoa as a side dish, here are some new ways to eat quinoa:
Quinoa Burgers
Did you know that you can use quinoa to form a burger patty? It can be added to both beef and vegetarian patties and tastes delicious! Serve them up with a wholemeal bun, spinach, tomato, roast pumpkin and a yoghurt sauce for a delicious healthy burger.
Quinoa Porridge
So we all know porridge is generally made out of oats, but did you know that it can also be made out of quinoa? If you want to switch up your breakfast, try my quinoa porridge recipe here. It has an amazing texture and tastes delicious!
Stuffed Capsicums With Quinoa
When you think of stuffed capsicum you generally think of rice or mince, but quinoa is a another amazing alternative. Mix some cooked quinoa with sautéed onion, spinach, lemon juice, crushed garlic, feta cheese and semi-dried tomato for a great capsicum stuffing.
Quinoa Brownies
The one thing that most people don’t realise is that quinoa is a great ingredient to use in sweet cooking or baking. Just substitute regular flour for quinoa flour in your brownie recipe and enjoy!
Quinoa & Egg Cups
I’m sure you have all heard of egg cups before. They are super easy to make for a quick on-the-go breakfast option. Next time you whip up a bunch, try adding some cooked quinoa for extra protein and texture. Simply whisk together some eggs, cheese, cooked quinoa, chopped tomato, chopped capsicum and spinach and bake in the oven. And presto, you have a delicious breakfast or snack!
Quinoa Smoothie
Did you know that quinoa is a great addition to boost the protein content of your smoothies? If you aren’t a fan of using protein powders in your smoothies, simply add 50g of cooked quinoa (or regular quinoa flakes) to give them a natural boost! The best combo is cooked quinoa, frozen berries, banana, greek yoghurt, milk and honey.
I hope you enjoyed these suggestions, girls! Remember just because you want to eat healthier doesn’t mean it has to be boring! What are you favourite quinoa recipes?
